L-Pyroglutamic Acid

L-Pyroglutamic Acid is a substitute for our previously used Acetyl-L Carnitine (which is prohibited in some countries due to customs regulations, hence our substitution with L-Pyroglutamic Acid).  L-Pyroglutamic Acid is just as effective but not as well known.

L-Pyroglutamic Acid is believed to be associated with activity of the key neurotransmitter, acetylcholine, and with the production of natural GABA and glycine, two other important neurotransmitters. It is an amino acid found in fruits and vegetables. L-Pyrogutamic Acid naturally occurs in the body and is sometimes referred to as the forgotten amino acid. Lpyroglutamic acid has unique properties in that it is a key neurotransmitter which may promote cognitive function in both men and women.

In Vogal testing it has been demonstrated that L-pyroglutamic acid possesses anxiolytic (anti-anxiety) activity. It has also been demonstrated that this amino-acid is not associated with any decrease in motor function, common in many pharmaceutical equivalents. Also it is highly compatible with, and did not change the content of 5-hydroxytryptamine (5-HT) in the cortex and hippocampus. These results suggest that the mechanism of the anxiolytic activity of L-PCA is different from that of the benzodiazepines and of 5-HT1a agonists.
